About Vidya Vardhaka Sangha First Grade College, Bengaluru
Vidya Vardhaka Sangha First Grade College, Bengaluru Urban was also known as V.V.S. First Grade College was established on 25th August 1978 and managed by the parent body of Vidya Vardhaka Sangha is especially for women education, now it is functioning as a co-education college by the consideration of the demand.
It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
The college is affiliated to Bangalore University, Bengaluru and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 21st November 1989 under Act, 1956.
It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B+" Grade (CGPA Score 2.62 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 22nd February 2017.
Since its inception, the college was established as a V.V.S. First Grade College for Women in 1978, the International Women’s year. Begun initially with Arts and Commerce combinations, Science was added subsequently. Computer Science was added in 1991.
The college got its roots in during the principalship of Sri N.D. Kulkarni, a retired professor, and Dr. T. S. Krishnamurthy, a retired Principal of Government College.
The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college in 1983, that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.
At this stage, Dr. G.V. Karajagi, a young, enthusiastic academician with a lot of vision and commitment took over the leadership under whose captaincy the college grew well both in academics and extracurricular activities. The status of the college was changed to co-education from 2015.
At present, the college offers three years undergraduate courses in Science and Commerce stream with optional specializations under Bangalore University, Bengaluru.
It also offers Add-On Certificate courses.

- The college has a library with a good number of books (both text and reference) on various subjects to meet the needs of the students as well as the teachers with reading room facility. Daily Newspapers and selected journals are also regularly subscribed
- The college has a book bank for helping the poor and backward class students
- State of the Art Laboratories with sufficient space and all the necessary equipment are made available to various departments
- The college has taken up the responsibility of imparting necessary, effective and practical education to the students so that they can reach great heights and attain maximum achievements in their life
- The college has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on 20th September 2004 to assure the quality of the college and also details regarding submission of Annual Quality Assurance Reports (AQAR) to NAAC annually
- Internet & Wi-Fi facilities may be availed by the students and teachers as per their needs
- The Transportation facility is available for students
- The college also has a hostel with providing all the facilities, security and good atmosphere, best suited for studies of the boys & girls coming from far-off places
- The college has a large playground with well-equipment for different sports like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Badminton and so on
- A medical facility has been available in the college for the benefit of the students
- State Government and Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
- A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
- The institution has provided ICT facilities like computers, projectors, audio-visual gadgets, scanners and printers to the departments and also other aids and a huge number of availability of books for effective delivery of curriculum and for inculcating the knowledge of the subject
- To sharpen the skill of students and their personality development, various curricular and extra-curricular activities are the regular features of the institution
- The college also organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences for improving teaching skills and methodology
- The college Unit NSS Wing performs different type of social services within and outside of the area
- The college consists Women Cell to help female students. This cell helps and guides girls to sort out from their personal problem and avoid them from any harassment
