About Union Christian College
Union Christian College, Umiam Khwan (Dist. Ri Bhoi) was established on 14th August 1952 and managed by Assam Christian Council which was also now known as the North East India Christian Council (NEICC) which was established on 23rd September 1937
It is one of the premier Christian minority colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.
The college is affiliated with the North Eastern Hill University, Shillong and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) on 13th December 1995 under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 29th April 2009 under Act, 1956.
It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade (CGPA Score 2.49 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 10th March 2012.
It is an educational project of North East India Christian Council (NEICC), established with the aim of imparting secular education in a Christian atmosphere.
It is a co-educational private institute, providing a regular course which is located in an urban and tribal part of a northeast region of Shillong played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.
The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.
The college has awarded as the best college by the affiliating university and also a number of awards in publication, offering scholarship & also awarded by the different society.
The college also offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, and Commerce streams with various specializations under North Eastern Hill University, Shillong. Also, It offers certificate courses.

- The college has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in 2005 to assure the quality of the college and also details regarding submission of Annual Quality Assurance Reports (AQAR) to NAAC annually

- The college has a significant presence in the field of research. A number of major & minor research projects are awarded to the faculty members by the UGC and other bodies
- The college has a large playground with well-equipment for different sports like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Badminton and so on
- A medical facility has been available in the college for the benefit of the students
- State Government and Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
- The institution has provided ICT facilities like computers, projectors, audio-visual gadgets, scanners and printers to the departments and also other aids and a huge number of availability of books for effective delivery of curriculum and for inculcating the knowledge of the subject
- To sharpen the skill of students and their personality development, various curricular and extra-curricular activities are the regular features of the institution
- A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
- The college also provides NCC training to its students. The NCC cadets attend different camps and earn pride for themselves and for the college
- The college Unit NSS Wing performs different type of social services within and outside of the area
- The college also organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences for improving teaching skills and methodology
- The college consists Women Cell to help female students. This cell helps and guides girls to sort out from their personal problem and avoid them from any harassment
