Udaynarayanpur Madhabilata Mahavidyalaya(UMM), Howrah is a Private and affiliated to the Calcutta University. It is the oldest of the modern universities in India.

Udaynarayanapur Madhabilata Mahavidyalay started its glorious journey in the 2006 on the auspicious day 25th July, 2006 with auspice of Udaynarayanpur Zamindar family, the contribution of which family will remain fit to be remembered for ever for their contribution to this college as long as this college exists. This college is named after Madhabilata Devi, the famous ‘Zanindar Ginni’ who is specially known for her glorious nature of patronizing education and whose memory flashes in our mind when we enter our college to see her statue at the entrance of the college building. This college first college first started its austere journey in Bireshwar Balika Vidyalaya. Afterwards it gains its autarky. This new college building was erected on the bank of river Damodar in abundance of natural greenery and scenary. It is a co-educational, Government aided college affiliated to the University of Calcutta and of late it has also been accredited by NAAC. The untiring, assiduous and whole hearted endevour on the part of the teachers to serve the needs and demands of the inquisitive, enthusiastic students has to be mentioned here. Apart from this, in this connection it has to be mentioned that intrepidity and tireless effort of college authority to upgrade the discipline of the college is really praiseworthy. The non-teaching employees of this college are also persisting and generous in providing their support and assistance to develop the college. It is also very pertinent to mention here this college is going to introduce e-classroom invigorate better understanding on the part of the students. Moreover in this college one can avail and utilize well-equipped laboratories, expansive library along with quite reading room and capacious classrooms.

In this college students also have the opportunity to refresh themselves by using common rooms, greensward and canteen. Thus this college is progressing inexorably to a heightened sublimity.

The college is leading a vital role to promote the higher education in this region. The aim of the college is to give its pupils a congenial atmosphere of learning, by taking individual care of each student and building up an intimate relationship between the teachers and the taught.

MISSION

1. To provide the students with adequate infrastructural facilities and learning resources, including classrooms, laboratories, toilets, books, equipments, etc, and to promote the gross enrolment ratio (GER) and the teaching-learning process in the college.
