Tyagbir Hem Baruah (T.H.B.) College, Sonitpur was established in 1963. It is one of the premier institution located in Jamugurijat in Naduar area under Sonitpur District of Assam.

The college is named after Tyagbir Hem Barua, a noted Indian independence activist, social worker and writer of Assam.

The college is affiliated to Gauhati University, Guwahati and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade in 2012.

It is the only institute of higher education in the greater Naduar area. The college has been playing a vital role in providing higher education to the students of Naduar area since inception. The college imparts both Science and Arts faculties.

T.H.B. College has an adequate academic and physical infrastructure catering to the 15 subjects in the 10+2 and Under Graduate Classes.

The college offers two years Higher Secondary Courses in Arts & Science stream under Assam Higher Secondary Educational Council (AHSEC), Guwahati and three years Degree Courses in Arts & Science stream under Gauhati University, Guwahati. It also offers some Career Oriented Courses / Add On Course.

The college also has a Contact Centre of Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL), Gauhati University for PG courses. Besides this, the college is running a Study Centre of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOPU), Guwahati.
