About Govt. T.R.S. College, Rewa

Govt. T.R.S. College, Rewa was popularly known as Government Thakur Ranamat Singh College, Rewa was established in 1869 by Maharaja of Rewa, King Raghuraj Singh as a public school and came into existence on 16th July 1995 and managed by Jan Bhagidari Samiti (JBS).

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Awadhesh Pratap Singh University, Rewa and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) on 2nd August 1978 & 12(B) on 3rd September 1991 under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.35 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 2nd December 2016.

The aim of the college was a focus on information and knowledge society the role of Information & technology has an effect on education and learning also focus on quality education and skill development agenda to meet the challenge being posed by the system of education.

It is a co-educational government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Rewa played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The College was established by Maharaja of Rewa, King Raghuraj Singh in 1869 as a public school and was renamed as Durbar High school.

The school got its affiliation with the University of Kolkata, Kolkata in 1884. In the year 1891-92, this school got its affiliation with University of Allahabad, Allahabad.

On 16th July 1935, the college was elevated to the status of Intermediate College. The New building for the college was constructed by Maharaja of Rewa, Gulab Singh in October 1938.

In 1944, several graduate courses were started in the College, thus the college was elevated to a Degree status.

the College was named as Thakur Ranmat Singh Postgraduate College in the memoir of renowned freedom fighter, Shaheed Thakur Ranmat Singh by the Government of Madhya Pradesh on 15th August 1957.

The college was affiliated with The University of Agra, Agra after getting the degree status since 1956.

The college got affiled with the University of Sagar, Sagar in 1956 and remained affiliated since 1968.

In 1968 the college became affiliated with With Awadhesh Pratap Singh University, Rewa which was established in 1968.

Being one of the Oldest Institutions of Madhya Pradesh the College has all the credit of being recognized as a 'Heritage College' of the region.

The Government Thakur Ranmat Singh College Rewa enjoys the privilege of being recognized with the status of an Autonomous College by UGC on 16th July 1995.

By the grace of its academic ambiance, the college was declared Centre for Excellence by the Government of Madhya Pradesh in 2001.

This college has conferred as the status as "College with Potential for Excellence (CPE)" on 20th July 2010 by Govt of India as the best college by their Awadhesh Pratap Singh University, Rewa.

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Awadhesh Pratap Singh University, Rewa.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Science, and Commerce streams with various specializations and two years of a postgraduate course in Arts, Science, and Commerce with various specializations under Awadhesh Pratap Singh University, Rewa. It also offers Ph.D. and Certificate courses.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Awadhesh Pratap Singh University, Rewa and various other examinations are held in the college premises.

Admissions here also done through Govt. of M.P. online portal by the Department of Higher Education M.P. and hence gives a transparent and fair method of admission.

  • The college has a library with a good number of books (both text and reference) on various subjects to meet the needs of the students as well as the teachers with reading room facility. Daily Newspapers and selected journals are also regularly subscribed
  • State of the Art Laboratories with sufficient space and all the necessary equipment are made available to various departments
  • The college has taken up the responsibility of imparting necessary, effective and practical education to the students so that they can reach great heights and attain maximum achievements in their life
  • Internet facilities may be availed by the students and teachers as per their needs
  • The college has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on 7th August 2008 to assure the quality of the college and also details regarding submission of Annual Quality Assurance Reports (AQAR) to NAAC annually
  • The Transportation facility is available for students
  • The college has a significant presence in the field of research. A number of major & minor research projects are awarded to the faculty members by the UGC and other bodies
  • The college has a large playground with well-equipment for different sports like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Badminton and so on
  • A medical facility has been available in the college for the benefit of the students
  • State Government and Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
  • The institution has provided ICT facilities like computers, projectors, audio-visual gadgets, scanners and printers to the departments and also other aids and a huge number of availability of books for effective delivery of curriculum and for inculcating the knowledge of the subject
  • A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
  • To sharpen the skill of students and their personality development, various curricular and extra-curricular activities are the regular features of the institution
  • The college also provides NCC training to its students. The NCC cadets attend different camps and earn pride for themselves and for the college
  • The college Unit NSS Wing performs different type of social services within and outside of the area
  • The college also organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences for improving teaching skills and methodology
