Established in August 1971, Tellakula Jalayya Polisetty Somasundaram (TJPS) College, Guntur is managed by Vasavi Vidyanidhi Committee under the dynamic leadership of Late Sri Tellakula Jalayya.

It is one of the premier coeducational colleges established to impart & provide higher education for the deserving aspirants and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress. The college has around 2,500 students, 125 teachers and 75 administrative and supporting staff on its rolls.

The college is affiliated to Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur and recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It was accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.01 on a 4 Point Scale in 1^st Cycle) on February 4, 2018.

At present, the college offers a wide range of intermediate, undergraduate, and postgraduate courses in Commerce and Science streams with various specialisations. The college also offers two years MA in English, MBA, & MCA courses.

The MBA & MCA courses are approved by All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
