Thiru Kolanjiappar Government Arts College, Vriddhachalam was established in 1966.

Its affiliated to Thiruvaluvar University.

The college was started as a Pre-University college at the Boys High School building in the municipal town Vriddhachalam. The college was donated by the authorities of Sri Vriddhagireeswarar temple.

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) visited the college in March 2005 and awarded B+ Level (77.50%). The shift system has been introduced in the college in 2007.

The college is spreaded over a vast area of more than 42 acres of land housing.

The permanent buildings of the college were donated by the authorities of Sri Vriddhagireeswarar Temple. The college was shifted to the present campus in the year 1971.
