Tezpur College, Tezpur was established in 1965. It is one of the premier institution established with untiring efforts of Late Dulal Chandra Bhattacharjee, a doyen of teaching and legal community of Assam. He was also the founder president of the college.

The college is affiliated to Gauhati University, Guwahati and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade in 2004. It was re-accredited in 2010 by National Assement and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade.

Started as an evening college for the benefit of poor students and housed in Tezpur Academy, the college was later shifted to the present site on the flank of the famous picturesque hillock of Agnigarh in 1968.

Since their inception, the college has been imparting higher education with brilliant performance and extracurricular activities of the students.

Besides the regular courses in B.A. / B.Com. and Higher Secondary Arts and Commerce, the college also offers programmes like BBA, BMC, TTM ,B. Music. and M. Music.

The college offers two years Higher Secondary Courses in Arts & Commerce stream under Assam Higher Secondary Educational Council (AHSEC), Guwahati and three years Degree Courses in Arts & Commerce stream under Gauhati University, Guwahati. It also offers some Career Oriented Courses / Add On Course.

The college also has a Contact Centre of Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL), Gauhati University for PG courses. Besides this, the college is running a Study Centre of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOPU), Guwahati.
