Synod College, Jaiaw-Lumdiengjri (Dist. Shillong) was established on 1st July 1965 and managed by Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Synod Sepngi.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with the North Eastern Hill University, Shillong and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) on 17th December 1974 & 12(B) under Act, 1956.
 
It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.10 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 30th November 2011.

It is a co-educational institute, providing a regular course which is located in an urban and tribal part of a northeast region of Shillong played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college has awarded as the best college by the affiliating university and also a number of awards in publication, offering scholarship & also awarded by the different society.

The college has also introduced the International Centre for North East Studies a big centralized Institutional in the Synod campus which was announced on 30th July 2016.

To begin with, the International Centre for North East Studies is primarily work in the areas like Climate Change and Sustainability, Governance, Culture Studies and Tribal / Indigenous Peoples, Human Rights.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, and Commerce streams with various specializations also two years postgraduate course in Arts stream with Political Science specialization under North Eastern Hill University, Shillong.

Also, it offers Add-On Certificate courses.
