About Surya Mahavidyalaya, Jagdalpur

Surya Mahavidyalaya, Jagdalpur (Surya College, Jagdalpur) was established in 2008 to provide higher education and built student career and personality.

The college is affiliated to Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur and recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 2 (B) Act, 1956.

Surya Mahavidyalaya will meet the changing need of society by building on its traditions of innovation, problem-solving and interdisciplinarily.

The college offers three years Degree Courses in Arts, Science, & Commerce stream under Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur. It also offers some Management Courses / Diploma Courses / Career Oriented Courses / Add-On Courses.

The main aim of the college is to respect and honor humanity at large and serve the society for the betterment of mankind, to endeavor, to impart education to students belonging to different strata of society irrespective of caste, color or creed, to uplift the deprived and academically weak students empowering them with knowledge, to develop social, moral, aesthetic and ethical values amongst the students, to equip the students with essential skill to sail confidently through life's complexity and challenges, to cultivate the qualities of perseverance, dedication and excellence in the students and to prepare competent citizens with strong and unflinching character.

The college has an attractive, campus situated in secured and serene atmosphere suitable for learning
The college has separate individual departments for all subjects with young, dynamic faculty and non-teaching staff and with good results.
The college has the most eminent Faculty members and they are really well qualified, experienced and truly committed towards enhancement and development of the students.
The college has computerized open access library with a collection of nearly 5000 books apart from various journal’s, magazines and newspapers.The general library has internet facilities for the student . in addition, there is a similar library in each honors department for ready access to books.
The college has two well-managed laboratories with request software and all the computer are linked to each other through the network.
A digital language laboratory with fifteen workstations and student friendly software for students of Communicative English (Major) will soon be operational.
There is a provision for medical check up of students by doctors. Various health awareness programmes are regularly organized by the medical unit of the College. The services of a qualified personal councilor can be availed of by students in the campus.
A hygienic and well-maintained canteen caters to the student's needs.
The institute provides the training facility like- face to face interview, resume making, communication skills, that help the students to face the campus recruitment.
For every course, the college imparts practical training to its students that helps them to understand better, improve their demonstrative skills, eliminate hesitation and in this process strives to mold them into industry ready professionals.
The college places emphasis on cultural, literary and sports activities and our students have acquitted themselves creditably in these areas, bringing laurels to the college at the District, State, and National levels.
State Government and the Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
