Established in 1964, St. Xavier's College is maintained by the Jesuits of Kerala province and is located at Thumba in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala State, South India.
The college is affiliated to the University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram and it was a part of Loyola Institutions at Sreekariyam in Thiruvananthapuram.
On October 10, 1963, the Kerala Jesuit Society applied for starting Loyola Junior College on the Loyola College campus, Srikaryam, Thiruvananthapuram. That was the year in which the government had changed its educational policy and invited non-governmental educational agencies to start Junior College in Kerala. The application was filed by the then Principal of Loyola College, Fr Joseph Puthenkalam S.J for and on the behalf of the President of the Kerala Jesuit Society.
In 1965 the college was shifted to the present site, about four kilometers west of Kazhakuttom, around twenty kilometers from the Thiruvananthapuram Railway station and Fifteen Kilometers from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport.
It was upgraded and made co-educational in 1977. It was raised to a Post Graduate College in 2005. It imparts quality education in Commerce, Arts and Sciences, to boys and girls, especially of the marginalized communities, making them intellectually alert, spiritually firm, morally sound, religiously tolerant and socially committed men and women.
