St. Mary's College, Hyderabad was found in 1981 and St. Mary's College was established in 2002 at Yousufguda as a part of St. Mary's Education Society with the mission to provide guidance, identifying talent, enhancing potential, encouraging students to follow their dreams and helping them become successful professionals.
St. Mary's Educational Society was established in 1981. The Society set up its first institution, the St. Mary's Junior College (currently located at Basheer Bagh, Hyderabad), in 1982. Very soon, it became one of the most sought-after junior colleges for students in the Twin Cities. Its second campus was established in 1995 at St. Mary's College at Yousufguda, Hyderabad. In 2002, St. Mary's College was upgraded to an undergraduate college.
The college was founded with the mission to identify and nurture talent, hone the knowledge and skill potential of students and create change of leaders for society. Within a short period of time. St. Mary's College was recognized as one of the top three co-educational institutions of Hyderabad and earned the reputation as the most happening college of the Twin Cities.
Over the years, St. Mary's College has grown from strength to strength and has made rapid strides to have become the institution of first choice for most undergraduate students looking for a co-ed college in the region. Our students have consistently secured high ranks in competitive examinations and admissions at reputed institutions in India and Abroad. St. Mary's College is affiliated to Osmania Univesity and has been re-accredited for a third-time by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). St. Mary's College was firt accredited when it was just six years old (Cycle 1) and it was re-accredited (Cycle 2) five year later. For a third-time, it was re-accredited (Cycle 3) in 2019. The College is currently undergoing its fourth cycle re-accreditation process. St. Mary's College is recognized by the UGC under section 2(f) of the UGC Act of 1956.
St. Mary's College is a Christain Minority Institution, as defined by section 2(g) of the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions Act, 2004, having all Rights of Minority Educational Institutions as provided by the NCMEI Act, 2004 (and as amended from time to time).
The college is affiliated to Osmania University, Hyderabad and all the Intermediate courses recognized by the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh and affiliated to Board of Intermediate Education (BIE), Andhra Pradesh and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade.
The first Junior College was established in 1982 which is presently located in Basheer Bagh and houses around 1000 students from Intermediate I & II Year coures.
It is one of the best colleges in the city. Some of the World's leading sportsmen have been the students of this organization. Actors, artists and sports persons - the list goes on
Sania Mirza, Pulela Gopichand, VVS Lakshman, Ashwini Ponnappa and some of the Tollywood actors are Naga Chaitanya & Ram Charan Teja have made St. Mary's organization proud.
The College has been certified with ISO 9001; 2000 by D.N.V Management System Certificate, the Netherlands for Quality and Standards maintained in Delivering of quality education to Undergraduates.
St. Mary's College is built on an acre of Society owned Land and Building at Yousufguda, a prominent business place on the North West side of Hyderabad city.
The Campus at Yousufguda houses in all about 1800 students for both the Intermediate and Degree courses. The location is also very near to the up market localities of twin cities Vizag, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Filmnagar, Madhapur etc. Major sections of the people here belong to the middle class or upper middle class group.
In a short period of three years, the Yousufguda College reputation rose to being recognized as one of the top 3 Co Educational colleges of the City. The decade old institution has churned out eminent sports persons like Sania Mirza and Ashwini Ponnappa, gold medallist at the Common Wealth Games, New Delhi.
The college was also home for eminent political personalities, who are presently Members of Parliament and the A.P. State Legislative Assembly.
The strength of the college increased from a modest 70 students in 2002 to 1800 presently.
