About St. Mary's Centenary College of Education

St. Mary's Centenary College of Education, Visakhapatnam is an minority Educational Institution, was established in 1988 by the Catholic Archbishop of Visakhapatnam.

The college is affiliated to Andhra University, Visakhapatnam and recongnized by National Council for Technical Education (NCTE) & Govt. of Andhra Pradesh.

St. Mary's Centenary College of Education takes the pride of place for being started on the occasion of the Centenary of the Catholic Diocese of Visakhapatnam and hence the name "Centenary".

Rt. Rev. Dr. K. Mariadas, M.S.F.S.,D.D.,J.U.D., the Catholic Archbishop of Visakhapatnam, is the founder of St. Mary's Centenary College of Education and the President of the Governing Body of this Catholic Christian Minority Institution.

The college was started in the true tradition of the Catholic church with the sole aim to draw people to GOD in wisdom, knowledge and accordingly to wipe out ignorance from the minds and hearts of people. The College proudly joins the array of innumerable Catholic educational institutions spread far and wide with a spectrum of approach.

The National Council for Teacher Education has given recognition to St. Mary's Centenary College of Education in the year 1998-99 for the first time and there after it is renewed every year.

Students here are admitted based on the Andhra Ed CET and counseling.

Various teaching and learning techniques are being used by the faculty to impart knowledge and skills to students at St. Mary's Centenary College of Education, Visakhapatnam in its various departments.

"Mission with Vision" is the motto of the College.

Vision:

  • Vision stands for the power of Understanding or the insight into realities especially that concern the interests of neighbours. Ultimately the motto would mean that every member grows into a full fledged person, gets enlightened regarding social and human values and offers to help others in achieving similar growth, welfare and development

Mission:

  • Mission denotes the CALL for every person much more so, for an educated person to help in the growth and development of the humanity as a whole.

    It evokes an immediate call from Lord Jesus Christ to serve one's neighbours

OBJECTIVES & SPECIFICATIONS:
St. Mary's Centenary College of Education aims at achieving the following objectives :

  • To help in the social transformation and national development.
  • To contribute to the richness of the values of Indian culture

      The College strives to achieve the above mentioned objectives through concrete and specific measures. The teacher-student, or the scholastic will train himself/herself in:
