About St. Joseph's Training College, Kottayam

Established in 1957 as a Christian minority institution, St. Joseph's Training College was established to impart & provide quality education and nurturing ground for the professional development of the teacher-trainees through an earnest academic pursuit for excellence.

Since 1983, the college is affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and it was formerly affiliated with University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram. It was also recognized & approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bengaluru.

It was re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.17 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on September 24, 2014.

The college main aim is determined to provide the co-educational quality education to the future teachers with the correct mix of technology and human touch. The college empowers the aspiring teachers to propagate education through the rungs of the society so that they serve the nation while making a satisfying career for themselves.

At present, the college offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

The college also offers two years Master of Education (M.Ed.) course for those who have completed their Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) with the minimum aggregate of 55% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from a recognized university with at least 55% marks in major or in aggregate at the graduation level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

Apart from these courses, the college also offers short-term and add-on certificate courses as well.
