St. Joseph's College (SJC), Bangalore was established in 1882, is one of the oldest colleges in the State of Karnataka with a history of more than 130 years behind it.

It has been accredited by the NAAC with A grade securing 3.73 out of 4 GPA.

As a mark of recognition for its exceptional contribution to higher education, the Government of India recognized the college with a postal stamp and a first day cover in the year 2008.

In 2004, the college was declared as a College Of Potential Excellence by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi.
