St. Joseph College of Education, Anantapur was established in 2003-04. It is affiliated to Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapur and recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) Southern regional Committee, Bangalore.

Therefore St. Joseph Institute of Elementary Teacher Education was started during the academic year 2007-08 and it is affiliated to State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT), Hyderabad.

The college is having pucca accommodation with all modern facilities, co-education. The institution has acquired 25.20 acres of land for setting up the teacher education institution and constructed the building on the mentioned above land.

The college is having social science laboratory, physical science laboratory, Biological science laboratory, Computer laboratory, Pucca library, teaching aids and other facilities as per norms prescribed.
