St. Francis De Sales College, Nagpur was established in 1956 and accredited by NAAC with A grade.

It is a Christian minority institution, managed by S.F.S. College Society. The institute aims at giving its men and women student’s sound education, which while training them for academic success, will also make them self-reliant, keen, co-operative and incorruptible citizens.

The college believes in the supremacy of spiritual and moral values, in the importance of an all round education over mere instruction, in the training of character through regulated freedom. Its spirit manifests itself in uprightness of character, loyalty to authority, devotion to duty, friendly comradeship and social service.

St. Francis De Sales College was founded in 1956 by our Venerable founder Chairman, Late Archbishop Eugene D'Souza a visionary, whose goal was to promote excellence in higher education and foster human values. He was assisted by Fr. M.M. Balaguer S.J., who laid the foundations of the College. Inspired by the teachings and love of Jesus Christ and St. Francis de Sales, the college was established to mould young men and women who will strive for excellence in all walks of life and human services. The institution is concerned with providing a holistic development to the students, fostering self-reliance and confidence enhanced by the qualities of keeness, cooeration, and fair-mindedness to become excellent citizens of tomorrow. St. Francis de Sales College is one of the oldest colleges in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. The College is run by SFS College Society which is a registered society under the Societies regsitration act (1860).

Though a religious minority institution, the college welcomes with open mindedness students belonging to different caste and religion, diverse economic strata and has pledged to cater and create an ambience conducive the academics and value related ethical development. As symbolized by the college flag and its crest, the stress is on development of spiritual and moral values and upright character.

The well-equiped automated digitized library, an Audio Visual Conference Room, a State-of-art Seminar hall with modern facilities, labs for research and spacious class rooms faciliate the teaching and learning process. The college has been assessed and re-accredited 'A' grade with CCPA of 3.23 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore.

The institution is affiliated to R.T.M. Nagpur University, Nagpur, since its inception. It has been granted 2(f) and 12(B) status by UGC. The College offers courses in three disciplines namely Arts, Science & Commerce.

The core options for under Graduation are B.A., B.Sc., B.C.A, B.C.C.A & for Post-Graduation, M.Sc. Chemistry, M.Sc. Biotechnology, M.Sc. Physics and M.Sc. Mathematics.

The college is spread over 10.47 acres of lush green campus atop, a location which is very captivating. The ambience combines exquistie natural beauty with seat of high philosophical thinking emanating from the surrounding seminaries, which sets an ideal place for higher academic pursuits.

The college has excellent infrastructure facilities-spacious class rooms, well equipped laboratories, ICT enabled seminar & conference hall, gymnasium, spacious and well stocked library which includes a Centralized Network Resource Centre, Wi-Fi Network, excellence sports facilities like four hundred meters athletic trace, gymnasium, basket, football court and cricket ground.

The College facilities are put to the best use by the team of well qualified teaching staff and hard-working non-teaching and administrative staff, under the constant encouragement of a benevolent management. A quality education consisting of the regular prescribed curriculum supplemented with a variety of value-oriented activities is imparted to the students, to bring out the best in them. Vlues of nationalism and social service are inculcated through N.C.C. N.S.S. and many cells and associations throughout the year.

There is a excellent support system for the students for during and after their formative years in the institution. There are many practices such as student orientation, bridge courses mentoring, counselling, soft skill development, coaching for competitive exams certificate add-on courses etc. that help to smoothen the path of the students. Likewise, a Training and Placement Cell chisels them into job ready personalities.

The faculty contribute their own share to academic learning through research. They have published many research publications, and about 20 books. They have handled research projects funded by UGC.
