St. Ann's College of Education (Autonomous), Mangaluru (Dist. Dakshina Kannada) was established in July 1943. It is a co-educational college admits both men and women managed by Apostolic Carmel Education Society.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
 
The college is affiliated to Mangalore University, Mangaluru and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) in July 1981 & 12(B) in April 1993 under Act, 1956.

It is also recognized & approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bengaluru to offer B.Ed courses. It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.71 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 10th December 2014.

St. Ann's College of Education is a premier College of Teacher Education in India and it is the first private training college in Karnataka State.

The college celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 1993 with an excellent track record as published in the College Souvenir. The Autonomous status is granted to the college from the Academic year 2007-2008.

The skills of effective teaching, leadership, communication, well-rounded knowledge of the subjects and continuous search for the promotion of ideas and practices in teaching enables their students to be bold and successful.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university. The college also granted the autonomous status from the academic year 2007-08.

The college offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), Master of Education (M.Ed), and Doctorate course also one-year Diploma for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

The College has a fine team of qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty and staff members.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

The college offers two years Master of Education (M.Ed.) course for those who have completed their Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) with the minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from a recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the graduation level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

Apart from these courses, the college also offers Add-On Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma, and Doctorate (Ph.D.) courses under the affiliating university.
