St. Aloysius' College (Autonomous) Jabalpur is minority community of Catholics Christian College was established in 1951 situated in the Jabalpur Cantonment area and managed by St. Aloysius College Society (R).

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Rani Durgawati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is also recognized & approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), New Delhi to offer B.Ed. course.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A+" Grade (CGPA Score 3.68 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 9th June 2017.

The aim of the college was to the confluence of diverse contemporary knowledge, life coping skills, state of the art instrumentation and excellence in teaching with quality as the defining element in their harmonious blending.

It is a co-educational private Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Jabalpur played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college is named after St. Aloysius Gonzaga, the Patron Saint of the college, who harbored a burning desire to serve God and his fellowmen.

The college was opened in a small room of the school building with only ten students and Rev. Fr. H.van Englen O’Praem as its Founder Principal.

A year later, the English medium classes in Arts and Science commenced as the college was affiliated to the Sagar University. In 1953, the Arts faculty was bestowed Degree Status and the Science Faculty in 1956.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government.

The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college has conferred the status as "Autonomous"  and  "College with Potential for Excellence (CPE)" in 2007 by UGC, New Delhi.

The college had received many awards and accolades at a city, state and national level for their educational advancements also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of sports and curricular activities under the Rani Durgawati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Commerce, Science, and Management streams with various specializations and also offers two years postgraduate courses in Master of Arts, Science, Commerce, and Management under Rani Durgawati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur. It also offers Diploma, Vocational, and Add-On Certificate courses.

The college also offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Rani Durgawati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur and various other examinations are held in the college premises.
