Srisaila College of Education, Harihar (Dist. Davangere) was established in August 1972 and was founded by his Holiness Lingaikya Srisaila Jagadguru Vageesha Panditaradhya Shivacharya Mahaswamiji who was the great sage, renowned Sanskrit Scholar, freedom fighter & fought for integration of human welfare.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
 
It is affiliated to Davangere University, Davangere and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) on 8th June 1991 & 12(B) on 22nd February 1998 under Act, 1956.

It is approved & recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bengaluru to offer B.Ed. & M.Ed. course and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade - (CGPA Score 2.42 on a 4 Point Scale in 1st Cycle) on 11th July 2016.

The college has a fine team of qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty and staff members. The college aims to make education the defining element of national development by helping the student to become dynamic, talented, passionate and dedicated secondary school teacher and proficiency in various aspects associated with teaching.

The college offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

The college offers two years Master of Education (M.Ed.) course for those who have completed their Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) with the minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from a recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the graduation level.
