Srikishan Sarda College, Cachar Popularly known as S.S. College was established on 18th September, 1950. It is one of the premier & oldest higher educational institution in the present day Hailakandi, Cachar District, Assam.

At that time the college was affiliated with Gauhati University, Guwahati but after the establishment of Assam University, Silchar (A Central University constituted under act XIII of 1989), the college get its affiliation under this university from the year 1994.

The college is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956 and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade on 30th November, 2011 with 3.12 CGPA.

The college is situated in the Hailakandi, Cachar District in the state Assam, India. The place where the college is located is a remote place. The nearest airport is Silchar Airport, which is nearly 65 km away from the college.

Though Hailakandi Rail Station is nearly 1.5 Km away from the college but no direct train connects the place to the rest of the country. Daily night bus service is available, through which the place is connected to the rest of the country.

Late Sisir Kar Sashtri, a versatile personality and eminent scholar was the founder Principal of this college , whose untiring efforts, coupled with sincere co-operation from localite and conscious citizens ensures Smooth establishment of the college.

Srikishan Sarda College is running both arts and science faculty. Though the college started its journey with the arts faculty only in the year 1950, but later on in the year 1958, it started its science faculty.

Recently the college take initiative to run some career oriented program under both the stream, and accordingly started a career oriented program viz Industrial Fish and fishery under Zoology department of the college.

One more career oriented program namely Biotechnology is going to be started from the ensuing session under the Department of Botany.
