Sri Sarada College for Women (SSCW), Salem was established in 1961 & its affiliated to the Periyar University, Salem, Tamilnadu, India.

Sri Sarada College for Women (SSCW), Salem was started in the year 1961 as an affiliated  college of the University of Madras by Mrs. Seethalakshmi Ramaswamy under the benign grace and presidentship of Srimath Swami Chidbhavananda of Sri Ramakrishna Tapovanam, Tirupparaithurai. Since 1-1-1998, Sri Sarada College is affiliated to the Periyar University, Salem, Tamilnadu, India. It is a Government aided college and recognized for receiving grants from University Grants Commission (UGC) under sections 2f / 12 B. It receives not only annual grants for the functioning of autonomy but also special plan grants.

The progressive voice of the college trains the mind and abilities of the students along with accumulating knowledge that enhances life. By catering to the students' myriad-channeled interest, this educational institution warps out women of strong determination steeped in national culture and spirituality. All our activities have been moulded into one groove to produce positive virtues and energies directed towards socially beneficial purposes.

It is a Government aided college and recognized for receiving grants from University Grants Commission and it has been reaccredited with 'B' grade by NAAC.
