About Sri Mahaveera College
Sri Mahaveera College, Moodabidri (Dist. Dakshina Kannada) was also known as Sri Mahaveera First Grade College, Moodabidri was established on 1st July 1965 by Padmashree Late Dr. T.M.A. Pai and Late Sri S.N. Mudbidr.
The was founded under the Academy of General Education, Manipal and Sri Mahaveera College Trust, with the primary objective of providing University education in a rural atmosphere for deserving students, especially those belonging to the low Community.
It is one of the premier grant-in-aid colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
The college is affiliated to Mangalore University, Mangaluru and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 1st July 1968 under Act, 1956.
It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.02 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 5th November 2016.
The college is situated in the small town of Moodabidri which flanks the lush green Western Ghats. Spread over an area of 23 acres of land, it has grown strongly with supportive management, dedicated teaching, and administrative staff, active Alumni Association and PTA, functional IQAC and adequate infrastructure.
The aim of the institution is to attract more and more students and to improve the student enrollment by adding new sections and by providing better infrastructural facilities.
At present, the college offers five undergraduate programmes B.A, B.Com, B.Sc, B.B.M, and B.C.A under the Credit Based Semester System of Mangalore University, Mangaluru. An additional self-financed B.Com section has been added in the year 2014-15 with an intake of 90 students to meet the increased demand for the B.Com. programme.
Apart from these courses, the college offers two years intermediate (PUC) courses under Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka.

- The college has separate individual departments for all subjects with young, dynamic faculty and non-teaching staff and with good results

- The college has well-equipped with modern facilities like library, laboratory, classrooms, computer lab, canteen, seminar halls, multipurpose halls, playground & hostel etc.
- A sufficient number of classrooms with varying sizes are made available for the smooth conduct of different classes in the college
- The college has a library with a good number of books (both text and reference) on various subjects to meet the needs of the students as well as the teachers with reading room facility. Daily Newspapers and selected journals are also regularly subscribed
- State of the Art Laboratories with sufficient space and all the necessary equipment are made available to various departments
- The college has taken up the responsibility of imparting necessary, effective and practical education to the students so that they can reach great heights and attain maximum achievements in their life
- The college has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on 8th July 2005 to assure the quality of the college and also details regarding submission of Annual Quality Assurance Reports (AQAR) to NAAC annually
- The college runs a canteen inside the campus where staff and students can have meals and snacks prepared in a hygienic manner and at an affordable cost
- Internet & Wi-Fi facilities may be availed by the students and teachers as per their needs
- Transportation facility is available for students
- The college has a significant presence in the field of research. A number of major & minor research projects are awarded to the faculty members by the UGC and other bodies
- The college also has a hostel with providing all the facilities, security and good atmosphere, best suited for studies of the boys & girls coming from far-off places
- The college has a large playground with well-equipment for different sports like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Badminton and so on
- A medical facility has been available in the college for the benefit of the students
- State Government and Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
- A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
- The institution has provided ICT facilities like computers, projectors, audio-visual gadgets, scanners and printers to the departments and also other aids and a huge number of availability of books for effective delivery of curriculum and for inculcating the knowledge of the subject
- To sharpen the skill of students and their personality development, various curricular and extra-curricular activities are the regular features of the institution
- The college also organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences for improving teaching skills and methodology
- The college also provides NCC training to its students. The NCC cadets attend different camps and earn pride for themselves and for the college
- The college Unit NSS Wing performs different type of social services within and outside of the area
- The college consists Women Cell to help female students. This cell helps and guides girls to sort out from their personal problem and avoid them from any harassment
