Sri G.V.G Visalakshi College, Udumalpet was established in 1952. 

Sri G.V.G Visalakshi College is affilated to Bharathiar University and got A+ Level by NAAC.

Sri G.V.G Visalakshi College appeared on the academic map of Tamilnadu as the first Women’s college in Coimbatore District. The story of the growth of the college is one of gradual uphill ascent to the summit of excellence. 

In the post independence era there arose an acute need for providing higher education for rural women which then remained a much coveted dream for the women to puruse their educational post school. An indelible mark was made in the educational map of the erstwhile Coimbatore district, when this illustrious institution par excellence was established in 1952. Thiru G.V. Govindaswamy Naidu, the munificent and philanthropic founder envisioned the importance of women's education made an ingenious initiative to provide education to the rural women folk of socially and economically underprivileged strata of the society. The creative visualization of our founder blossomed into a reality in the establishment Sri. G.V.G. Visalakshi College for women in udumalpet. It enjoys the status of being the first ever women's college and continues to spread the radiance further perpetuating the glory of disseminating a fruitful, value based education. The positive atributes to enhance education was further spread by Dr. V. Genguswamy Naidu and Thirumathi G. Rajalakshmi Genguswamy Naidu. The golden vision and the glorifying mission of the noble founder were passed on to his notable descendansts with the same spirit enlarging the scope and quality of higher education. The life of the Philanthropic founder bears testimony from time immemorial to the fact that the vision is a splendid torch, and the glorious legacy is passed on to the posterity, shifting the responsibility to Srimati Sumathi Krishnaparasad, who carries the mantle further to reconnoiter new vistas of knowledge, experience and expertise.

Her inexhaustible benevolence decorated the campus with the grab of sparkling splendour, dazzling beauty and an astounding aesthetic appeal. Mrs. Shwetha Venkatalakshmi, daughter of Srimati Sumathi Krishnaprasad is inducted as a trust member in G.V.G. Charities Trust. She graduated in one of the premier institutions in Chennai. She further enriched her academic acumen by earing a Diploma in Child Care and Creche Management, A UGC funded programme. Her keen insight and her passion to explore the vision of our founder as her goal and objective is worth mentioning. Presently, her position as central Director Casagrand Bright Kids School in Chennai is an added impetus to have her on board of the furtherance of our own college growth and development.

The edifice of learning retains its uniqueness through topnotch quality education of goal standards, by preparing academically superior, socially committed, ethically sound and culturally strong citizens to bring about a vibrant and holistic upiftment of self and society. On an uphill ascent to accomplish the acme of excellence in quality an ardent venture was undertaken to go in for the third phase of reaccreditation which was duly awarded with A grade with CGPA of 3.53 out of 4.

The meticulous planning diligent effort to sustain quality and the impeccable execution has brought the crowning glory A+ Grade in the fourth cycle of NAAC reaccreditation in 2018.
