Sri Guru Gobind Singh College (SGGSC), Chandigarh was established in 1966 by the Sikh Educational Society, the first co-educational institute of higher education in Chandigarh.

Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh is a co-educational Institution of eminence and repute offering Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. The College is named after the immortal luminary and the tenth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru, Gobind Singh Ji, Whose teachings and lofty ideals shall always inspire us. The insignia of the College carries an imprint of the 'Pen and Sword', a combination of wisdom and valour, guarding the 'flame of knowledge' with the College motto [All manking are one], inscribed atop. There has been a consistent endeavor in all these years to live up to the ideals and teachings of the Guru Enshrined in the insignia of the College.

Sri Guru Gobind Singh College was the first co-educational institution to be set up in the region.

Though the College established itself as a tribute to the moral and religious consciousness of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, it has ever since suitably adapted to the changing educational set up of the milieu.
