Sri Dasari Narayana Rao Govt. Degree College for Women, Palakol was established in 1982.

In view of the acute need felt by the local and surrounding public and their wards for the establishment of a degree college exclusively for women, a philanthropist and a generous donor Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao materialized his thought and donated an amount is Rs.2.00 Lakhs and established this college in the year 1982.

For the establishment of this College, Sri Chodisetti Surya Rao, Ex-municipal chairman, and Sri Allu Venkata Satyanarayana, Ex-MLA and the then councilor did yeoman services for the Collection of funds and used their good offices for the construction of the building and providing other infrastructure needed for starting the College.
