Shri Ram College of Commerce was established by Lala Shri Ram on 1st April 1926. A constituent college of the University of Delhi, it is managed by the Commercial Education Trust.

One of the renowned colleges, Shri Ram College of Commerce was established to provide higher education in the field of commerce and economics to meritorious students and prove to be a landmark where progress is concerned.
The college is affiliated to the University of Delhi, New Delhi and it was recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 5th November 1956 under the UGC Act, 1956. It was accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A+" Grade (CGPA score 3.65 on a 4 point scale in the 1st cycle) till 15th September 2021.
Shri Ram College of Commerce is a co-educational institute, which is private in nature. Located in the urban part of Delhi, it offers regular courses in economics and commerce. The college is a grant-in-aid college and hence all the rules and regulations related to fees and facilities provided to the students are laid down by the government.
The trust set up Shri Ram College of Commerce also established its first school in 1926 and was named 'The Commercial School'. A Post-Matriculation Diploma Programme in Commerce was introduced by the school. At Kashmere Gate, opposite the St. James' Church, on the first floor of a 'Hall', the students of the first batch were enrolled.
Shri Ram College of Commerce first started operating from Daryaganj and then it was shifted to the current location on the North Campus of Delhi University in 1957.
The current campus has recreational and educational areas and covers an area of 17 acres (69,000 sq m).
It was after six years that the college acquired the position of a degree college. It started awarding its graduates the B.A. (Pass) (Commerce Group) Degree of the University from this time. In 1943, the college started awarding the B.A. (Honours) (Commerce Group) Degree.
Also, in 1943, the M.A. (Economics) course was introduced, and then in 1948, the Master's degree in commerce was introduced. Then the Commercial College decided to concentrate only in the streams of economics and commerce and hence the college was renamed as Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC).
Shri Ram College of Commerce has been awarded many accolades for its achievements in the educational, extracurricular activities and sports fields at various levels: city, state as well as national levels under the University of Delhi.
The alumni of Shri Ram College of Commerce have acquired top positions at exams conducted by universities. The Roll of Honour is where the college acknowledges the achievement of its top ranking students. It has more than 100 faculty members. The college is considered as one of the top colleges in the commerce and humanities section.
In 2015, a study conducted by the Week-Hansa Research Survey ranked Shri Ram College of Commerce as the number one college in the commerce stream. The distinction of National Centre of Corporate Governance was also awarded to the college by the National Foundation for Corporate Governance, New Delhi.
Three years of undergraduate courses and two years of postgraduate courses are offered by the college in the arts and commerce streams. Various specializations are also offered under the University of Delhi, New Delhi. The college also conducts various diploma courses and also add-on certificate courses. Various exchange programmes are conducted with foreign universities at this college.
The college also has an International Languages School.
The school conducts certificate courses in Asian and European languages.
The college has its own unique selection process via an online application process that enables the prospective applicants to fill in their academic achievements and interests. Only those who have registered with the university are eligible for admission to the college.
To get admission to Shri Ram College of Commerce, candidates should take into account their percentage marks, i.e., best of four/PCB/PCM, whichever is applicable. They must make sure that the cut-off percentage that is declared by the college is adhered to in case of admission to different courses.
Various examinations are held at Shri Ram College of Commerce. These are the university exams of different courses and also exams conducted by the University of Delhi, New Delhi. The college has been maintaining a high standard till date. Hence, to gain admission, one has to score really high as the cutoffs to get admitted to this college are really high compared to other colleges of the University of Delhi.
