Southern College of Engineering & Technology, Chalakudy was established in 1954 by late Mr. S.P. Luiz, F. I. C.E, ex. MLA. This Institution is approved and recognized by the Director General of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India vide DGCA. This college is imparting Ab-initio training in the field of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering to cover the basic license for Airframe and Aero engines. The faculty consists of highly qualified and experienced professionals headed by the Chief Instructor who is approved and appointed by the DGCA. The training program is a combination of Airframe, Aero Engine including Jet engine, electrical, instrument, electronics and Computers and Avionics and provides the students with theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as the ability to maintain the Aircraft, engines and related equipments and systems of an Aircraft in Airworthy condition. Campus of Southern College of Engineering & Technology - The Southern College of Engineering & Technology is situated at Chalakudy in Trichur district of Kerala. The campus is ideally located in a 15 acre estate by the banks of the Chalakudy river about a kilometer from the nearest Railway station and bus stand. The college is housed in a spacious building containing the classrooms and administrative office, which is adjacent to a larger hangar, where a variety of aircraft used for the training are positioned.
