Sonepur College, Subarnapur was established in 1964 is one of the leading Non-Government colleges under Sambalpur University is passing through the 45th year of its existence.

The college started B.A. classes in 1966, Intermediate Science in 1971 and B.Sc. classes in 1975.

By then the college attained its full-fledged status in all branches of Arts, Science, Commerce with almost all the essential subjects. Subsequently it got Honours affiliation in Oriya, History, Political Science, Economics, English, Education, Sanskrit, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology over the years.
