Sohan Lal D.A.V. College of Education, Ambala City was first established on 15th July 1939 in Lahore (Now in Pakistan) by Rai Bahadur Sohan Lal. But after the partition of the country, the college was re-established at Ambala City in July 1954 and was handed over to the DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

It is a Govt. Aided College and was established under the management of Dayanand Anglo Vedic (DAV) College Trust and Management Society which registered in 1886, under the societies Registration Act, 1860.

The college is at present affiliated with Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University, Jind formerly affiliated with Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956

The college is also recognized & approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Jaipur to offer B.Ed. & M.Ed. courses. It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.54 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 21st February 2014.

The main aim of the college is determined to provide the quality education to the future teachers. With the correct mix of technology and human touch, the college empowers the aspiring teachers to propagate education through the rungs of the society so that they serve the nation while making a satisfying career for themselves.

The college offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level.

But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

The college offers two years Master of Education (M.Ed.) course for those who have completed their Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) with the minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.
