SNDT Women’s University founded by Bharatratna Dhondo Keshav Karve in 1916, is the first women’s university in India as well as South East Asia, comprising 227 affiliated colleges spread over in Maharashtra, Gujarat and other parts of India. The main office of the university is situated in Churchgate, Mumbai and one of the major campuses is in Pune. SNDT College of Home Science was established on the 16 acre campus in 1968, with the aim to create responsible women citizens of India and to enlighten them so as to make them sources of infinite strength and also empower them.

Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey (S. N. D. T.) Women’s University which has completed its 103 glorious years, was established by Bharatratna Maharshi Dhondo Keshav Karve, in 1916 in Pune, Maharashtra, India. The previously known Indian Women’s University was named after Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey in 1936 and head office was shifted to Mumbai.

The University caters to education from K.g.to P.G. instructing in  Gujarati, Marathi and English. The colleges and the research centers in various fields of knowledge are spread all over the country as per jurisdiction, providing education to more than 50,000 students. The education is skill based, increases employability and creates academicians and entrepreneurs.
