Smt. S. I. Patel Ipcowala College of Education, Petlad is Grant-in-Aid college of education founded in 1970 with the help of Late. Rajratn Sheth Shree Ramanlal Keshavlal Pariskh and with the permission of Sheth Shree Amrutll Ramanlal Parikh. It is established under the management of Petlad Education Trust.

In 1997, Ipcowala Bhavan was created with the help of Charotar Ratna Sheth Shree Indubhai Maganbhai Patel and due to sizeable donation, the college name was given after Mrs. Shardaben Indubhai Patel Ipcowala college of Education.

The college is affiliated to Gujarat Univesity, Ahmedabad and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B).

The college is recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bhopal to offer Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) courses. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade  - (CGPA Score 2.58 on a 4 Point Scale in 1st Cycle) on 16th September 2008.

From the inception, the college had the three-fold objective of pre-service training, in-service training of teachers and administrators of schools and doing research and documentation.

So, their mission is to train well-motivated teachers who are intellectually competent, morally upright, socially and professionally committed and spiritually inspired in order to become instruments of social transformation.

The institute offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

It is also a Study Centre for two years Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University, Ahmedabad B.Ed programme with an intake of 100 students every year from various parts of Gujarat state.

Various teaching and learning techniques are being used by the faculty to impart knowledge and skills to students at Smt.
