Smt. Putalaben Shah College of Education, Sangli came into existence in 1961.  It is affiliated to Shivaji University and is recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bhopal.

Smt. Putalaben Shah College of Education, working under the guidance and sponsorship of Sangli Shikshan Sanstha, is an autonomous co-educational college. The college spreads over an area of 0.11 acres of land. which imparts education in one year of full-time undergraduate degree level course of Bachelor of Education (B. Ed).The educational institution offers modern facilities to its students, in its campus.

To meet with the growing demand of the competent teachers, the SangliShikshanSanstha started this college in 1961 as College of Education. Later it was renamed as “Smt. Putalaben Shah College of Education” in 1979 which was inaugurated by then Central Home Minister Shri. YashwantraoChavan. The college is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur. Since its inception, the college has been striving hard to cater the needs of Teacher Education and helping the students to become dedicated, committed, intellectually well developed, socially concerned, morally upright and spiritually oriented teachers. At present the college runs B.Ed. course of Shivaji University, Kolhapur and B.Ed.(Distance Mode) course of YashwantraoChavan Maharashtra Open University, Nashik. The college is reaccredited by NAAC with ‘B’ grade.
