Smt. M.N.K. Dalal Education College for Women, Ahmedabad was established in 1947 under the management of Gujarat Stree Kelavani Mandal a leading organization in Gujarat.
The college is affiliated to Gujarat University, Ahmedabad and recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bhopal.
It was the first teacher training institute for women in Gujarat state. Gradually the number of students increased and the colleges for M.Ed. degree was also started.
In the beginning, Smt. Padmaben Fadia worked as the Head of the Department and then Dr. Yashomatiben Patel was appointed in 1963. The institute was affiliated to Gujarat University, Ahmedabad in June 1973.
In June 1975, the trust received the donation from Smt. ManiGauri Nansha Kalidas Dalal trust to established an education college. Hence, the education department was separated from the SLU Arts college and was named as Smt. M.N.K Dalal Education College for Women.
The institute offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.
Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.
The college also has a Contact Centre of Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Open University, Ahmedabad for Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Distance mode.
Various teaching and learning techniques are being used by the faculty to impart knowledge and skills to students at Smt. M.N.K. Dalal Education College for Women, Ahmedabad in its various departments.
