Smt. Gangabai Khivaraj Ghodawat Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Kolhapur was promoted by Latthe Education Society, took a bold step by starting the college in 1985.

The college is situated on the Shirol-Narsinhwadi road. The Junior college of Arts and Commerce is also attached to there college. 

Our parent organisation Latthe Education Society (a Jain Minority Institute) was established in 1951 with a view to bring social revival, generate good culture, self reliance and national integration among people. The Society was named after Late Annasaheb Latthe, the renowned politician, economist, social reformer and a great academician, in order to honour his noble vision and mission.

In continuation of the vision and mission, Latthe Education Society has established about 43 branches offering KG to PG courses in the disciplines of arts, commerce, science, education, engineering, law and medical as well. However, there was no separate college for girls and number of girls were deprived of higher education. Realising this, Latthe Education Society established a college for girls in Jaysingpur on 5th Sept., 1985 and opened the avenue of higher education. As a result thousands of girls from Jaysingpur and surrounding 45 villages could complete their higher education. Moreover, thousands of girls could commence second inning of their education after marriage and join the main stream of higher education only because of this college. The renowned industrialists Ghodawat and their family has contributed generously in the development of our college.

We are offering B. A., B. Com. and B. C. A. degree courses affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur. We all together strive to make our girl students competent enough so as to empower them to defy challenges in the era of globalization and technological advancement. We always strive for high quality in each activity of the college. In continuation of this effort we are organizing this seminar sponsored by NAAC Bangalore.
