Smt.Chandibai Himathmal Mansukhani (CHM) College, Ulhasnagar was established in 1965 with about 250 students and four departments has transformed into one of the largest Colleges of the University of Mumbai.

Starting as an institution to cater to the aspirations of the Minority Sindhi Community, Smt. CHM College, with its forward-looking approach, good infrastructure, committed faculty and enthusiastic student community belonging to every class of society, stands as a classic example of diverse learning today.

Smt. CHM College is proud of its glorious history which defines a tradition of high value. The College is the brainchild of some of the most enlightened educationists of our times, including Principal K. M. Kundnani and Barrister H.G. Advani and Mr. Gangaram Mansukhani.

After being displaced from his native land Sindh, now in Pakistan because of partition of India on 15th August 1947, Principal K. M. Kundnani reached Mumbai with a mission to resurrect National College which he had to close down at Sindh. No doubt, he lost his native place but established an empire bubbling with a host of educational institutions in Mumbai. He initiated the establishment of fourteen educational institutions with a view to arousing intellectual and spiritual strength of the people. And he had to work with girt towards the fulfillment of that dream and to keep on expanding the frontiers of that dream so that it encompasses an educational empire that goes by the name of the HSNC Board today. Principal K. M. Kundnani - the spiritual architect of those dreams - continues to live in the institutions that have become landmarks of the city and its suburbs. He had personally supervised the construction of Sm.t CHM College. In this effort he had the strong support of Barrister H. G. Advani and Mr. Kishinchand Chellaram, Mr. Wassiamull Assomull and Mr. J.

Watumull. The sizth institution set up was Smt. CHM College at Ulhasnagar. The college established in 1965 with about 250 students and four departments has transformed into one of the largest Colleges of the University of Mumbai with enrollment of more than 11000 students, 27 Undergraduate Departments, 7 Post graduate Departments, 6 Research Centers, 7 Certificate Courses and 2 Prestigious UGC sponsored study centers. The College has come a long way in the 21st Century with an outstanding academic performance.

The Colege today strives hard to nurture men and women of character who are able to distinguish between right and wrong, to produce committed citizens who are willing to take risks in pursuing their ideas and ambition - both personal and social to imbibe these values.
