The admission to M.Sc Microbiology and M.Sc Biotechnology is through an entrance Examination.

The Instute has peerless infrastructure which provides a computerized reference library with CDs. SSITS occuppies a prominent place among the unaided college affiliated to Kannur University with well equipped laboratory facilities in IT, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Chemistry with analytical tools, Broad - band internet facilities and provision for uninterrupted Power Supply.

The Institute provides hostel accomodation for both boys and girls. The Ladies hostel is very adjacent to the college campus. There are prayer halls for men and women. Tutorial sytem is implemented to motivate the students for better academic excellence. Individual attention and counselling being given to needy students.

Monthly Tests and Terminal examinations are conducted regularly and parents are intimated about the progress of their wards from time to time. The institute has NSS and NCC (Attached to SS College) Students should adhere to modest dress in the campus; dress code for boys is full sleeve shirts and pants and that of girls is churidar / Saree. The institute has zero tolerance towards ragging. If any student indulges in ragging he/she will be expelled from the institution.
