Sipajhar B.Ed. College, Sipajhar was established in 1994. It is one of the premier & co-educational institution of teacher education in the region of Silchar, Darrang Dist., Assam.

To do the necessary works for the establishment of the college a sponsoring body was formed with Sri Bhadreswar Nath as president and Sri Badan Chandra Saikia as the secretary and in due course the college was inaugurated on 22nd September,  1994 with due permission of Gauhati University, Guwahati.

Thus Sipajhar B.Ed College came into existence in 1994. Dr. Zoiinath Sarma, the then MLA of Sipajhar Constituency extended his valuable help and co-operation in obtaining the permission of the university of Guwahati for opening the college.

The college is affiliated to Gauhati University, Guwahati from the session 1999-2000 onwards and recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) with the intake capacity of 100 during the session 1999-2000.

The founder Secretary of the college was Sri Badan Chandra Saikia and continued his service till 31st July, 1999 and then Sri Rajani Kanta Nath was given the charge of the secretary and he has been performing his duties as a secretary till now.

Since the inception of the college 12 batches of trainees appeared in the B. Ed Final Examination. A good number of trainees have successfully completed the B. Ed course and several of them have secured 1st class.

The institute offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed there graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course. It also offers Diploma in Education (D.Ed) & Mater of Education (M.Ed) courses.

Students here are admitted who completed there graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks in eligibility for admission.

Various teaching and learning techniques are being used by the faculty to impart knowledge and skills to students at Silchar College of Education, Silchar in its various departments.
