Sibsagar Girls College (SGC), Sivasagar was established in 1964. It is one of the premier institution for the girls in the region of Sibsagar, Sivasagar Dist..

The college is affiliated to Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956 in June 2003. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade with 2.75 CGPA.

It is situated in an urban setting and has a campus area of 5.28 acres. It was established with the objective of giving boost to Female Education in the District of Sivasagar that is inhabited by people belonging to OBC / SC / ST categories besides a sizable number of tea garden labourers.

The college offers two years Higher Secondary Courses in Arts & Science stream under Assam Higher Secondary Educational Council (AHSEC), Guwahati and three years Degree Courses in Arts & Science stream under Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh. It also offers some Career Oriented Courses / Add On Courses.

• Any acts leading to defamation of the college are strictly banned
• Any misconducts/mis behaviour in the examination hall during examinatioin subject to punishment according to the University rules and regulations6) Respect college employees of all categories and cooperate them
• Protect the campus resources
• Donot shunt in the nearby Market complex or anywhere outside the campus during the class hours
• Through and dump garbages at proper sites
• Make the campuses pollution and tobacco free zone.
