Shri Shivaji Arts & Commerce College, Amravati was established in 1946 managed under Shri Shivaji Education Society, Amravati. Later in 1947 faculty of Commerce and faculty of Law was started.

In 1956 Post Graduate in Commerce is started. Faculty of Science was started in 1957 and in 1959 faculty of Agriculture was get started.

In the academic year 1968-69 two different colleges were established with above faculties.

In the year 1978-79 Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Law College is named separately.

In 1972-73 M.A. Economics in 1980-81 M.A. Political Science & M.A. English these courses were started.

Also from the year 1981-82 M.Phil Economics and Commerce were started.

The college has started Bachelor of Mass Communication course in 2001-02 and in 2003-04 Master of Mass Communication was started.

From the academic year 2007-08 M.A. Geography, M.A. Economics and B.A. Music available.
