Shree Sahjanand Arts and Commerce College, Ahmedabad was established in 1965 under the management of H.H. Acharya Shree Devendraprasadji Kelavani Trust which was established on 29th June 1964 by H.H. Acharya Shree Devendraprasadji Maharajshree.

It is one of the premier institutions to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Gujarat University, Ahmedabad and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Apart from this college, the H.H. Acharya Shree Devendraprasadji Kelavani Trust established two more colleges they are:

• Shree Sahajanand Vanijya Mahavidhayalay [Noon] - established since June 1991 which consist of two medium 1) English 2) Gujarati. This college consists education level up to graduation.
• Shree Sahajanand Elementary School [Shree Shajanand School] - established since 1982 which consist of Bachelor of Education Courses.

Since all the colleges affiliated to Gujarat University, Ahmedabad were private colleges, the managements enjoyed absolutely dictatorial powers of retaining or relieving the lecturers.

This college offers two years undergraduate courses in Arts & Commerce stream under Gujarat University, Ahmedabad.

The main objectives for which the Trust has been formed are as under:

• To establish and run the school, colleges and institution in the fields of Science, Commerce, Arts, Cottage industry, Music, Drawing, Various arts, Law, Medicines, Engineering, Military, Navy and force, Physical education etc.
• To establish and run libraries, reading rooms, educational institution, centres industrial training institutes,home-based industry, small scale industry etc.
• To establish and run recenters
• To work for propagation of Sanskrit language and welfare of devotees of the Swami Narayan Sect and the general public
• To establish and to be established hotels, rooms, book banks, economic aid centres for scholarship, financial aid, and loans to help the pupils of the Swami Narayan Sect and the outside pupils
• To establish and to be established dispensaries and hospitals to help the devotees of the sect and the general public
• To accept and give grants, gifts, donations pertaining to education
• To publish magazines and run press etc.
