Shibli National College, Azamgarh was established in 1883.

It was founded by the great oriental scholar; savant, Islamic historian and educationist, Allama Shibli Nomani who realised that economic and educational backwardness of his community could not be mitigated unless new methods of cultural progress were evolved.

College ambience is eco-friendly and free from any sectarian, primordial and parochial feelings which thwart the passage to nation building. The college through its various examinations aims to impart its students a self-disciplined life with an ability to become ideal citizens of the nation.

It attempts to inculcate an ability of free thinking, clear understanding and broad mindedness among its students.

Situated at the eastern strip of sprawling state of Uttar Pradesh and far from the hustle bustle of the present day cosmopolitan cities, Shibli National College with its long and cherished record of dedicated service to the cause of advancement of education in east U.P. has definitely carved out a niche for itself in the history of education in India.

Founded by the great and internationally acknowledged savant, Allama Shibli Nomani, as “National School” in 1883- even two years ahead of the birth of Indian National Congress when even the use of the word “National” was considered crime. The founder, Allama Shibli , was quite ahead of his time and has very aptly realized the need and value of modern education coupled with traditional and cultural ethos of muslims in India. National School from the modest beginning to its present stature has now fully blossomed into a radiating centre of higher education and learning, inspite of its muslim minority character. Shibli National College, Azamgarh, a muslim minority institution, is bubbling with a very strong feeling of “Nationalism” and therefore has its door open to all irrespective of caste, creed, religion, region and such other narrow and parochial considerations.

The College offers facilities of masters degree and research leading to the award of Ph. D degree from VBS PU Jaunpur in the disciplines of Urdu, Hindi, Psychology, Sociology, Geography, English and Philosophy in the faculty of Arts, apart from master and research degrees in Chemistry, Physics, Zoology, Botany and Mathematics in the faculty of Science. The College also offers PG courses and research in the faculty of Commerce. Three year degree course is being offered in the faculty of law (LLB) apart from one year B.Ed course in the faculty of education.

Shibli National College also offers various job oriented professional courses in different streams. We have a well equipped and state of   computer science department where several diploma courses (certification jointly by National council for promotion of Urdu language NCPUL Ministry of HRD and National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology NIELIT Ministry of Communication and IT Govt. Of India) are being offered. Shibli National College has got full accreditation with NIELIT for its “O” Level and CCC Courses.   Shibli National College also offers different vocational courses through womens ITI in the streams of cutting, tailoring, embroidery, stitching etc. and hereby helping in women empowerment

The institution also facilitates in spreading education through  Distance  Mode of learning. The College has study courses of Maulana Azad Foundation New Delhi and Rajarshi Tandon open University Allahabad through which various under graduate (UG) and Post graduate (PG) courses can be pursued.

Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi has been kind enough to acknowledge our institution as its study centre, where several technical and professional courses which suit the present day job profile are being offered.
