Shadan Degree College for Women, Hyderabad was established in 1988 by Shadan Educational Society. It is affiliated to Osmania University, Hyderabad and accredited by NAAC with B Grade.

The Shadan Degree College for Women was granted permission by the Government of Andhra Pradesh vide G.O Rc. No.1640 dated 17/11/1988 and the Osmania University in the year 1988 and vide its letter No.547/A/1251/88/Acad, dated 24/11/1988. It is a minority Institution with a minority status certificate No. 077/1721/M&R/A2/99(M) dated 23/7/99.

One of the Top & Oldest Minority Institution in the Jurisdiction of Osmania University with 22 Gold Medals & several Distinctions.

Dr. Asfia Parveen has excelled herself as a good lecturer at UG and PG level for the past 24 years before she became the Principal. Her academic excellence includes 1st Rank in M.Sc Osmania University Exam.

Her academic excellence includes 1st Rank in M.Sc Osmania University Exam. She was awarded Doctorate Degree for her research titled Some Histological and Biochemical Variations associated with pesticide treatment in a fish Clarias batrachus in the year 1990.

She was a Senior Research Fellow of Indian Council for Agriculture and Research (ICAR). She has attended National Conferences, Seminars & Symposia. She has presented Abstracts, Papers in National and International Conferences at Gulbarga , Philadelphia , South Carolina , Jammu and Mangalore. Her abstract has been presented in an international conference at Indian Institute of Chemical Technology in Dec 2007. Her full length paper titled Effect Of Ammonia On Succinic Dehyderogenese Activity In Clarias batrachus (Linn) in  Proceedings of Andhra Pradesh Academy of Sciences.

Dr Asfia Parveen was chosen as one of the Eminent Women of Science by Third World Organization for Women in Science on 8th march’2011 at the Institute of Genetics .

She was felicitated on the occasion of Centenary celebrations of International Women’s Day for her outstanding contribution to science and society.

Various teaching and learning techniques are being used by the faculty to impart knowledge and skills to students at Shadan Degree College for Women, Hyderabad in its various departments.
