Seth Soorajmull Jatan Girls' College, Kolkata was established in 1954.
The College owes its existence to the great industrialist of Bengal, late Shri Mohanlal Jalan, the founder president of the College.
Today, under the able guidance of the present President of the College, Shri Tularam Jalan and the Vice-President Shrimati Alka Devi Jalan, the College has extended education to girls of all communities.
It is a college affiliated to the University of Calcutta and follws the rules and regulations, curriculum designing and system of examination and evaluation set by the University.
The College has earned a notable cosmopolitan character today and has been totally successful in being one of the notable girls' colleges in North Kolkata where the medium of instruction is English.
The College is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
