Serampore Girls' College, Kolkata was established in 1981 to cater to the local demand for a Girls' College.
Late Sm. Anita Devi, the noted educationist and the then President of West Bengal Higher Secondary Council inaugurated the college in the presence of Late Prof.
Affiliated to the University of Calcutta and recognized by the Govt. of West Bengal and University Grants Commission, New Delhi, the college sent its first batch of students in Humanities Group for the Graduation Examination in 1983.
The smooth running of these departments are ensured by an efficient set of dedicated and highly qualified teachers.
The college has also on its premises a well-stocked library, a reading room, well-equipped laboratories in Laboratory based Subjects, and computers for various departments including Education and Sociology.
