Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development, Mysuru is a popularly known as SDM Institute for Management Development, Mysuru is a postgraduate study and research in management institute was established in 1993 and managed by Shri Dharmasthala Educational Society.

It originally functioned from Besant women's college, in under Mysore University until a new building was constructed two years later.

The institute is recognized and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi & International member of The ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs), USA and by EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development).

Thus becoming the first institute in India to get the dual accreditation of ACBSP and EFMD - EPAS. The program is also recognized as equivalent to MBA by Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

The objective of the institute is providing quality management education based on a firm foundation of Indian values and ethics.

It is co-educational private institute, providing a regular course which is located in an urban part of Mysuru played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The Institute had started a campus on Vinoba Road, Mysuru and moved to the new campus in 2005 which was inaugurated by Mr. N. R. Narayana Murthy, Chief Mentor, Infosys technologies.

The Institute has been rated A**(A Double Star) by Credit Rating Information Services of India Limited (CRISIL) and Brickwork Ratings at the National level.

The Institute for Management Development Library has been recognized as Center for Training by Board of Apprenticeship and Training, MHRD, Government of India, India.

The institute has been ranked 23rd in the MBA Universe B-School and ranked among the Top 50 B-Schools by the leading media house.

The Institute offers two years programs in Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM-General). It also offers Ph.D. programs.

With the intention of strengthening the PGDM program and providing students and faculty with international exposure, the Institute has tie-ups with several foreign universities like Global Management Education Institute of Shanghai University, China and MAYS School of Business, Texas A&M University, the USA for academic collaboration.

The students were selected through CAT, MAT and COMED-K Entrance Examination conducted every year. Admission also can be done through XAT and GMAT.

Average of 50% in all examinations leading to graduation (45% for SC/ST candidates) and 75 percentile and above in any of the Entrance Tests-(75 percent and above).
