Shri Cloth Market Kanya Vanijya Mahavidyalaya, Indore was popularly known as SCMKVM, Indore or Shri Cloth Market Girls Commerce College was established on 13th July 1983 by Shri Cloth Market Merchants Association Trust, Indore and managed through Shri Cloth Market Kanya Vanijya Mahavidyalaya Education Society.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) on & 12(B) on 14th March 1992 under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.10 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 15th September 2012.

The aim of the college is the acquisition, preservation, and transmission of knowledge in a way which promotes national and rational outlook with a scientific temper among the girl's students of the region.

It is a woman's government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Indore played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Commerce, and Management streams with various specializations and offers two years of postgraduate courses in Arts and Commerce with various specializations under Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore. It also offers Postgraduate Diploma and Add-On courses.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore and various other examinations are held in the college premises.

Admissions here also done through Govt. of M.P. online portal by the Department of Higher Education M.P. and hence gives a transparent and fair method of admission.
