School of Economics, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya Indore is a pioneering institute of Devi Ahilya University, was established in 1976 as the University Teaching Department under the faculty of Social Science to impart quality education and research in the field of economics.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (in 1st Cycle).

The aim of the college is to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need in this era of information and teaching and as well as to provide the ideal environment to develop a mental, Physical, social and spiritual level of students.

It is a co-educational private Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Indore played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college was developed itself as the only institute in central India providing professional courses with the perfect blend of Economics & Management.

The School of Economics offers a wide range of postgraduate programmes in Economics and management. It has been attracting a lot of sponsored Research Projects from various National Research Agencies.

The Department is identified under the UGC Scheme of Centre with "Potential for Excellence (CPE)" under XII plan (2016-2021) on the theme of Inclusive Growth and Sustainability in the Tribal Area.

State Planning Commission has also created a Chair on "Decentralized Planning and Micro-Economic Governance".

The college received Centre for Excellence in Teaching & Research by Govt. of M.P.

and UGC -Special Assistance Programme (SAP) Department.

The college had received many awards and accolades at a city, state and national level for their educational advancements also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of sports and curricular activities under Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore.

The School of Economics had initiated the three conventional courses in Economics namely

• M.A.(Economics)
• M.Phil.(Economics)
• Ph.D.(Economics)     

The institute had initiated professional programmes in functional areas of economics in 1992. The need exists to develop a cadre of management professionals who can understand, identify and analyze business policies under continuously changing economic environment.

The School of Economics initiated the following three job oriented professional programmes in the field of Economics and Management.

• MBA (International Business)
• MBA (Business Economics)
• MBA (Financial Services)

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, and Management streams with various specializations under Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore. It also offers Ph.D., Postgraduate Diploma, and Add-On courses.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore and various other examinations are held in the college premises.

Admissions here also done through Govt. of M.P. online portal by the Department of Higher Education M.P. and hence gives a transparent and a fair method of admission.
