LM Thapar School of Chemistry and Biochemistry(LMTSCB), Patiala was established as a separate body in 2002 with an objective to promote teaching and research in chemical sciences.

The school offers M.Sc. (Chemistry) and Ph.D. degrees besides teaching chemistry to B.Tech and M.Tech students.

The post graduate programme in chemistry was started in 2007 with an intake of 20 students each year.
