Smt. Bhagyalakshmamma Rattehalli Ramappa Mahajana First Grade College, Mysuru was popularly known as SBRR Mahajana First Grade College, Mysuru was established in 1982 under the management of Mahajana Education Society which was established in 1937.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to University of Mysore, Mysuru and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.01 on a 4 Point Scale in a 3rd cycle) on 1st May 2015.

The institution has given priority to teaching and learning process. It has created a better teaching and learning environment in the campus through improved infrastructural and human resources.

It was admitted to the grant-in-aid in 1987 and in 1988 became a co-educational institution. B.Sc. course was introduced in 1989, BBM course & Biotechnology, Biochemistry & Microbiology combination in B.Sc. were added in 1994 & 2004 respectively. BCA course was introduced in 2008. The college was initially for women offering various courses in Arts and Commerce, eventually went on to become a co-educational institution. The college was founded in 1982 as a women’s college offering B.A. & B.Com.

At present, the college offers B.A, B.Com, B.Sc, BCA, & BBA degree courses with various specializations through semester scheme. In addition to this, the college offers Diploma, Certificate, and Add-On courses.
